What your Tzedakah can do

One example

Last year the Foundation allocated $275,000 from undesignated funds to a variety of community organizations and institutions which had applied for funding through our allocations process. One of the recipients was the Montreal Jewish Hereditary Disease Fund whose mission is to educate the Jewish community about the importance of genetic screening.

Recently we received an update and thank you from their Board which reported that, with our support, they had screened, without charge, over 370 people, as well as ran an awareness campaign.

"Thank you for your support.
Hopefully, we can prevent the occurence
of children born with horrible diseases."

The Fund has established a genetic testing centre at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Many of these diseases are more prevalent among Jews. Therefore it is important that young adults contemplating marriage and children should be screened.

To be tested ask your family doctor for a referral.
